General FAQs

When are your tours scheduled?

Due to Covid restrictions we have suspended all tours. We will offer our downtown walking tour again in January 2021.

How do you handle social distancing requirements on your tours during the Covid-19 pandemic?

We take this very seriously and will limit the number of guests on tour. We are also one of the few local operators that use audio technology on our tours so you are able to enjoy the guide’s commentary while socially distancing. Masks will be required on all tours until the restrictions are lifted.

What is your cancellation policy?

For all of our tours, we offer a 100% refund if you cancel at least 24 hours (or more) in advance of your scheduled tour. All tours cancelled within 24 hours of scheduled departure are non-refundable. If we cancel a tour due to weather or otherwise, we will issue you a 100% refund. Our guides are always ready, but if the forecast is showing a strong likelihood of rain on the day of your scheduled ride, it will be up to us to cancel the tour and keep you safe. We also offer rescheduling options for a future tour date without penalty.

Do you offer private tours?

Yes! We offer discounts for private tours.  Please fill out our group info sheet, and our group coordinator will contact you soon:

Do you pick up from a hotel?

Please note we do not currently provide hotel pick-ups for individuals or for groups smaller than 10 people. We would love to pick everyone up from their hotel, but we find that having one convenient pick-up and starting location works best for the quality of the tour. The starting locations for all of our tours are centrally located and within walking distance from all of our Downtown hotels.

Is my payment secured?

Please note our reservation system is secure and offers SSL security on all credit card purchases.

Do you offer discounts to AZ Residents?

We LOVE Arizona! Our discounts encourage AZ residents to be a tourist in their own capitol city and to connect with the Downtown Phoenix community. If purchasing the “AZ Resident” ticket option, we ask that you provide some proof of residency (AZ Driver’s License or other document with current address) to your tour guide at the beginning of your tour.

What are the age limits for your tours?

The trolley tour is best suited for children over the age of 13. We do not have child safety seats on the trolley. Due to legal and insurance reasons, the age limit for our bike and walking tours is 16.

Are your tours presented in any language other than English?

At this time, we do not offer tours in any other languages except English.

Are we able to stop for photos?

Yes! We make several stops on all of our tours and we encourage you to take photos. However, please exercise caution while walking and riding a bike.

Downtown Phoenix Art & Mural Bike Tour FAQs

Is there a minimum number of riders required for booking?

Our bike tours require a minimum of two guests. You may book as an individual, but please know that we may need to get in touch with you on the rare occasion that we don’t have the required number of guests. We will offer the opportunity to change the date or can process a refund.

How do I rent a bike?

All of our bike tours are conducted using the Grid Bike Share program and we’ll be starting the tour at a bike-share hub. Please be sure to register for an account prior to the tour at or via the Social Bicycles mobile app. If you’re not sure what plan to sign up for, we recommend the 7 Day Pass which includes 180 minutes of usage for $10 and activates upon purchase. Your tour guide will be able show you how to unlock a bike before the tour starts. Please arrive 30 minutes before the tour starts to receive a helmet, learn how to use Grid Bikes, sign the waiver and partake in the safety instructions. You must be 16 or older to check out a bike and must be at least 18 to sign up for an account. Each account will allow you to rent up to three additional bikes at a time at the hourly rate. The bikes will generally accommodate those that are 5’0″ to 6’3″ in height. For more information, visit or download the Social Bicycles mobile app.

Can I use my own bike on the tour?

In order to keep the bike tours running smoothly, we only use bikes from the Grid Bike Share program on our tour. There are many bike-share hubs along our route, allowing the opportunity to quickly and easily switch out a bike if needed.

Is there an age restriction on the tour?

You must be at least 16 years of age to participate and to check out a Grid Bike. The bikes will generally accommodate those that are 5’0″ to 6’3″ in height.

Is it safe to ride a bike in Phoenix?

We take safety very seriously and make sure that our tours will take you on the safest bike routes. We also provide safety instructions before each tour.

Do I need to be in good physical shape to ride on the tour?

Our tours require basic riding ability and you should be comfortable on a bike. The ride will be conducted at a relaxed pace of 8-10 MPH. There will be several stops along the tour and we make every effort to cater to the slowest rider in the group, however, we do need to keep our time schedule.

Am I required to sign a waiver/release of liability?

Yes. All individuals participating in a bike tour with Phoenix Rising Tours must sign a release of liability, which will be supplied before the tour. If you are under the age of 18, your parent or legal guardian must sign for you.

What should I wear, and what should I bring?

Please bring a bottle of water (two during the warmer months) along with a bag to hold them in the bike basket as they are not completely enclosed. Wear comfortable clothing, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Close-toed shoes are mandatory, as are helmets (please see question below).

Am I required to wear a helmet?

Yes. All participants must wear a helmet. You may bring your own or use one of ours, which is included in the tour cost. We provide helmet liners and sanitize after each use.
